John Bibby Memorial Scholarship

History and purpose
John once said to a caregiver, “I will always support you if your decisions are made based on love for our caregivers. Even if it turns out to be the wrong decision, I’ll have your back.” It’s this servant leadership and courage that we will celebrate far into the future.
The John Bibby Memorial Fund Scholarship recognizes South Division allied health care professionals providing direct patient care outside of nursing and medical practice. Respiratory therapy, transport, occupational therapy, and similar roles in acute and ambulatory settings are critical to delivering our mission and will be the focus of the Bibby Memorial Fund.

Memories of John
One of my favorite parts about John was his ability to make a personal connection, we often talked about our families. His dedication and love for his children and wife was bigger and stronger than his laugh. Family came first, not only for John, but for his Providence family. He encouraged you to take the time to be with your family. May his memory always be a blessing, and may his name be spoken for many years to come.
Authenticity, which might be my favorite aspect of John, was something he embodied completely. He was unapologetically himself, and as someone who constantly strives for perfection, he taught me the valuable lesson that people truly appreciate and respect the leader you genuinely are, rather than the leader you feel you should be. John was an unforgettable human being; he exemplified courage, compassion, and authenticity in all that he did, and this is something I aspire to emulate. I will miss him profoundly, and my heart goes out to his wonderful family, whom he always spoke of with great admiration.
