Alice Galstian Chief Financial Officer, Philanthropy, Community Health and Health Equity, Providence South Division
In March, we welcomed our newest South Division team member, chief financial officer, philanthropy, community health and health equity, Alice Galstian. Alice is a finance expert with a heart for service. Approachable and kind, Alice is thoughtful about her integration into the Providence culture. Recently, Kenya sat down with Alice to check in and get her first impressions.
Kenya: Tell me about your personal connection to Providence and what you knew about it before joining the team.
Providence has a special place in my heart because both of my kids were born at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana. Over the years, I’ve known some of the physicians and board members, and I’ve always had a very positive image. I very much appreciate the culture. Not a lot of organizations talk about integrity and compassion and mean it. Providence is that exceptional organization that talks about and practices its values.
Kenya: As you get to know the organization from the inside, what are some of your first impressions?
People are very welcoming and proactively kind with their offers to assist and get me up to speed. The South Division team is strong and genuinely interested in collaboration and collective success.
Kenya: What are you most excited about as you take on your new role?
I’m excited to contribute to a great organization. Right now, I’m discovering where and how I can add value. First on my list is gaining a deep understanding of the organization and building relationships. Listening and learning are the keys for me.
Kenya: How will you collaborate with and support our foundation boards?
The essentials I’ll bring to the table are active engagement, open communication and shared commitment. I’ll be working to ensure our boards’ finance committees have the critical financial information they need to make informed decisions. I look forward to meeting and getting to know the board members.
Kenya: Finally, what do you do for fun?
In my home life, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We love to host family gatherings and play cards. My husband played canasta as a child with his grandmother and parents, and we’ve kept the tradition going with our kids. I really look forward to it!
